Contact us about this productWhen you need an interior or exterior closure option that is secure, durable, customizable and compact – you need a Cornell Service Door.
Model Number: ESD10 Our rolling steel Service Doors feature a rugged design manufactured with quality materials that lower the total cost of ownership. And, because we custom build each door to your exact aesthetic specifications, we can create a door that seamlessly fits into your existing designs.
Service Doors, also known as overhead coiling doors or rolling steel doors, are metal slatted doors that roll up to store in coil above the opening. Our doors can open by motor, chain, hand-crank, or push-up operation, depending on size, weight and/or frequency of operation. Our Service Doors are:
- Customizable: Cornell’s doors are custom built to fit your opening size, operation and aesthetic preferences.
- Space Saving: Our doors roll upward and store in a tight coil above the opening for fuller use of the interior space, reducing interference with other building components.
- Long Lasting: Cornell’s rugged construction and quality materials assure long life and less costly maintenance, lowering the total cost of ownership.

Aesthetic
Chain Diverter for MGH Operators
This option moves the auxiliary chain out of the clear opening and to the side of the door. This functionality enables free movement through the door and makes a chain bag unnecessary.
Fenestrated Slats
These are slats with multiple small window size punched slots that create an open curtain design. This option allows for ventilation, visibility and a high level of security.
Hood and Operator Covers
A metal cover to protect the coil or operator from weather, debris or to meet OSHA or UL 325 safety requirements.
Powder Coated Graphics
Permanent, durable faux finishes are available for rolling door curtains. There are six wood grain options as well as the ability to use custom graphics, photos or logos. Powder coated graphics give your doors a seamless, upscale look – either blending into the existing building architecture or transforming a building necessity into a work of art. We can apply powder coated graphics to rolling doors 12’ wide and under, on standard, insulated or perforated slats. Extended lead times apply – please consult the factory for additional details.
SpectraShield™ Powder Coating
A polyester finish in more than 180 colors. Designed for durability, superior finish life and cost-effectiveness.
Vinyl Graphics
Add full-color images to your curtains and hoods. Can be used for logos and turning unused door space into profitable sponsorship opportunities.
Vision Windows
Vision Windows improve both aesthetics and visibility. One- or two-way windows are incorporated in the curtain.
ScreenGard
Achieve visibility and ventilation while maintaining security and insect control. Perforated 20 gauge galvanized steel slat provides approximately 22% open space.
Performance Upgrades
High Cycle Springs
High Cycle springs are heavy-duty springs manufactured to withstand cycles of 100,000.
Seismic Performance Validation
Our team can provide project-specific seismic calculations for all coiling doors, including those that are mounted Face of Wall or Between Jambs to steel or masonry. Seismic performance validation is per ASCE 7-05.
Safety and Protection
Entrapment Protection Devices
The entrapment protection devices ensure that a motorized door or grille will not close on an object in its path of closure. The entrapment protection device will stop the door or grille from closing and return it to the fully open position.
Guide-Mounted Interlocks
This is an electrical cutout switch that prevents motor operation if the locking device is not first disengaged.
HDBB (Heavy Duty Bottom Bar)
The heavy duty bottom bar is 350% stronger than traditional bottom bars. This prevents forklift damage to your Service or Insulated Door. The HDBB can help reduce future maintenance costs.
Locking
A wide variety of locking options are available to meet your security needs.
Motor Mounted Interlock
An overload sensing device that prevents damage if motor operation is attempted when the door or grille is locked. Field wired guide mounted interlocks are no longer necessary.
RapidResponse
RapidResponse doors are provided with 3' or 6' of extra curtain, an impactable bottom bar and removable lower guide sections.
Rolling Door Protector (RDP)
The rolling door protector creates a physical barrier at the top of the door that absorbs impacts.
WeatherGard™
Weather seals at the guides and bottom bar with an internal hood baffle are included at coil housing. Also available in Lintel mounted nylon brush.
Wind Load
Wind load can be configured to withstand the full range of specific wind load requirements. These requirements include missile impact ratings.
Unique Design Solutions
Pass Doors
Hollow metal man door and hinged frame available within a curtain.
Sloping or Irregular Openings
Special bottom bar designs can address these irregular conditions.
Superimposed Doors
Superimposed doors combine two different curtains on the same opening. When extreme weather or sound resistance is needed, we can provide superimposed or double insulated curtain assemblies.
Combination Doors
Combination doors provide two different slat profiles in the same curtain. A standard slat can be combined with a perforated slat or even a rolling grille for increased ventilation and security.
Mullions
There are multiple mullion options available, including corner, fixed and removable.
